Fareham

Fareham from aboveThe Borough of Fareham occupies a total of 30 square miles in the south of Hampshire, on the eastern edge of the Solent. It is characterized by a modern urban settlement with other centres based on villages, which while retaining their own identity, are now surrounded by new developments. Currently there are 105,000 people living in the Borough.

The housing stock is generally more modern than the national average, 60% of the housing has been built since 1964.

The Borough of Fareham has approximately 43,900 households, a large proportion of houses are owner occupied (89%), i.e. the highest in the County (average 72.6%). Only 1.6% of housing is owned by housing association and 2.9% is privately rented. The Council owns 6.5% of the housing stock.
